The starting signal for CITY CYCLING 2025 in Rüdersdorf near Berlin, as in the entire district, is imminent - and with it the hunt for a very special prize: the municipality's challenge cup. From 1 to 21 May 2025, all citizens of the municipality are called upon to pedal hard and cycle as many everyday journeys as possible in a climate-friendly way. Then it's time again: helmet on, chain oiled, team found - and off you go!
The focus is on the sporting and sustainable competition between the teams: who will cycle the most kilometres this year? Last year, Friedrich-Anton-von-Heinitz-Gymnasium Rüdersdorf won the trophy. Now the trophy is ready again - and looking for a new home. Which team will take the title in 2025 and put their calves at the service of fitness, climate protection and team spirit? Since 2021, no team has ever managed to defend the challenge cup. The most kilometres were covered in 2023 with 67,363 kilometres, which corresponded to a CO2 saving of around 11 tonnes. The record for the challenge cup also dates from this year, which was won by GOS Rüdersdorf in 2023 with 14,339 kilometres.
In addition to joy, fun and tighter calves, there is also the chance to bring the district cup back to Rüdersdorf as an entire municipality - because after the municipality won the cup in 2023, it went back to the town of Strausberg in 2024.
