To mark World Book Day, a special author reading took place on 21 May 2025 in the Friedrich-Wilhelm-von-Reden Library in Rüdersdorf for the pre-school children of the Rappelkiste daycare centre. The Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels e.V. (German Publishers and Booksellers Association), in cooperation with the publisher HarperCollins, made a reading tour possible, which this year brought the children's book author Tobias Goldfarb to Rüdersdorf near Berlin.
The author presented the story "Hilda Hasenherz: Das Abenteuer im Fuchswald" to around 30 children. It wasn't just a reading - the children were allowed to actively participate by slipping into the roles of characters such as Hilda Hasenherz, Klara Pusteblum, Baron von Ratezahn, the falcon and Prince Lämpchen. The imaginative participatory reading not only stimulated the children's imagination, but also their acting talent.
Tobias Goldfarb answered numerous curious questions in the subsequent discussion. Among other things, the children learnt that the author started writing in order to read stories about animals to his daughter - and that his books are intended to encourage people, even if they sometimes feel anxious.
At the request of the children, a second reading followed from the book "Spekulatius geht in die Schule", which was written for first-time readers. At the end of the event, all the children were given a signed postcard to take home. As a special thank you, the children sang a song to the author.
Many thanks to the Hoffmann bookshop, which once again made an author's reading possible for the day-care centre children in Rüdersdorf near Berlin.
